4 Things to Consider to Make Your Home Children Friendly
When you have kids at home, you can’t help but wonder almost all the time about what they are doing and if they are safe, especially if you are not looking after them. Kids are more concerned with pleasure than safety, thus you must ensure that your home is safe. If anything, it is you who will take care of damages and injuries when they mess up.
One of the things to pay attention to is the sofas. Kids love to play on sofas while in the house and they do not know how to keep them clean. They get them dirty with their feet, shoes, dirty clothes, drinks, and food items. It doesn’t matter how many times you tell them it is wrong, they’ll do it anyway. To reduce your stress and make them comfortable at the same time, buy leather sofas of excellent quality that are strong and easy to clean. Alternatively, select slip covered sofas whose material is stain resistant for easy cleaning.
The other thing to also consider is your coffee table and cupboards. It is not advisable to buy sharp edged furniture for your home when you have kids who are learning to walk. The sharp edges of furniture can cause serious injuries if someone hits themselves against them, and they are quite painful. Instead, purchase round and oval shaped tables and have them cushioned if you can to make them dull, and cupboards with blunted edges. This way, if your kids get very rough, the risk for injuries will be less. Do not purchase cupboards for your home when you have young kids, but if it is inevitable, make sure they are very heavy and not placed in rooms where kids often go.
The type of flooring you install is also crucial. The best kind of floor to invest in is the type that is slip resistant, easy to clean, and warm. Hardwood floors are easy to clean, but very slippery especially when one has socks on. Concrete floors can be cleaned easily too, but they get very cold sometimes. Try carpet tiles because they are easy to clean, slip resistant, and warm on the feet.
When you have kids at the crayons stage, your walls will be a source of stress. To maintain your sanity, coat your walls with a type of paint that is easy to clean in the rooms where they visit the most or install chalkboards on the walls to make everybody happy. Again, kids will always find ways to get on your nerves, regardless of the many times you warn them to do stuff. Be smart!
